Munax - market leading egg company in Finland

Munax ltd. is founded in 2003, the family behind it has been in the egg business since 1948. Their turnover was 40 million EUR in 2017. The main business is retail, food service and industry domestically and globally. They have around 80 employees.

The factory in Laitila is the most modern facility in Northern Europe. We actually visited the factory as well during this course. It was a big, well-organized and hygiene was really a big deal, which is good thing of course. 

They have 3 production units working in 3 shifts and talking about eggs, they cook and peel around 160 000 pcs/shift, pack 960 000 pcs/shift and break 1,36milj pcs/shift. 

Talking about hygiene, environment in Finland is also a big advantage: crystal clear groundwater and air without pollution. Munax has own feed mills and mixing tanks, they use local grain and oat. The production is GMO free and since the factory and production and everything in between are quite close each other so that means no or less transportation emissions as well.

Munax has several brands and product lines. They have 4 different kind of egg-production: virike-, lattia-, luomu- ja ulkokana. They sell eggs and processed egg-products both to consumer customers and big companys like McDonald's, Orkla, Valio and Atria.
